Huntingdonshire Regional College (HRC) has developed a new internal peer mentoring scheme for learners to support female and LGBT students who may wish to develop individual skills, require assistance to find their way through College life or are experiencing other issues that are impacting on their learning.
Peer Mentors base their work on an attitude of respect and aim to empower others to achieve their best while at HRC.
The scheme is managed by co-ordinator who records all data regarding mentors, mentees and scheduled meetings.
The scheme was designed by Tony C Smikle MA as part of the NIACE EDIF project 2013/14 which specified the target group for the mentoring.
The lesson plan contains specific areas on LGBT issues which are facilitated and discussed in detail during the training
If you would like to develop a peer mentoring scheme the lesson plan is available via the contact us link.
